Dog friendly individuals needed to walk dogs in their spare time.
Volunteers assist by planting, mulching, spreading dirt, and cleaning up community gardens and other neighborhood greening projects.
Volunteers conduct interactive recycling demonstrations, ensure proper recycling at street fairs and other events, provide translation assistance and more. Our monthly volunteer orientations are recommended.
Volunteers help with at-market promotions like cooking demonstrations and community outreach. Attending an orientation is mandatory before volunteering.
Classes are 2-3 hours and are taught all over the city, every weekend, from April to October. The only reason Bike New York can provide this service to thousands of new cyclists is because of volunteers like YOU!
High School Mentoring Program (9th – 12th grade) Mentor one-on-one with a high school student. Our high school mentoring program meets twice a month; mentors and mentees schedule meetings on their own and attend Saturday workshops in Chinatown about once a month.
Middle School Mentoring Program (6th – 8th grade) Mentor one-on-one with a middle school student. Meet generally every other Saturday from 1:15-3:15PM. Program takes place in either Chinatown or Elmhurst, Queens.
Volunteers for the Teen Battle Chef/Look Who’s Cooking in both the Explorer (ages 6-9) and Junior (ages 10-13) Department will be responsible for assisting and supporting BCNY’s goal of teaching healthy lifestyles through activities designed to build knowledge of nutrition and healthy food alternatives.
Volunteers for the Explorer’s Game Room will be responsible for assisting in the guidance, supervision, and safety of BCNY’s youngest population of members, aged 6 to 9. He will serve as a model for positive social interactions through combined academic, social, and recreational programming for BCNY members.
Volunteers for the Junior’s Game Room will be responsible for assisting in the guidance, supervision, and safety of BCNY’s youngest population of members, aged 10 to 13. He will serve as a model for positive social interactions through combined academic, social, and recreational programming for BCNY members.
Homework Help volunteers provide academic support to small groups of BCNY members of various ages ensuring that members complete their homework and use good study skills.
