Dog friendly individuals needed to walk dogs in their spare time.
Shelter volunteers help with animal socialization, laundry; washing and drying dishes and bowls; preparing Kong treats and other enrichment toys; sweeping and mopping; and help keep the shelter clean.
Love a good book? You can be a docent at this Bethesda center’s author events, helping with ticketing and ushering guests to seats or judging writing samples for scholarship and fellowship programs. Volunteers also help with fundraising efforts.
Departmental Volunteers assist curatorial, development, and other departments with assignments that range from research to clerical work, based on departmental requests. These opportunities may be one-time, one-project, or ongoing.
Art information volunteers greet and provide information to visitors. Volunteers learn about the museum’s history, the permanent collection, special exhibitions, and other visitor information.
HI-DC volunteers are citizen-ambassadors for Washington, DC, acquainting travelers with the unique experiences and traditions of the capital city, and building cross-cultural understanding and socially aware travel. There are positions available either as an Information Desk Specialist or a Tour Guide.
Ushers at this Signature theater run ticket scanning and helm the coat check; administrative work and data-entry positions are also available. In exchange for each three- to four-hour shift, volunteers can see a performance free!

Manna Food Center Family Volunteer Days are a roaring success. Volunteers gather at the Gaithersburg Manna Food Center warehouse to fill boxes with non-perishable food that are later distributed to clients. This is very hands on and requires physical activity and the ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
Staff a table at the Rockville or Olney Farmers Market and encourage people to buy a few extra fruits and vegetables to donate to Manna.
