Volunteers play a crucial role in helping NYBC save lives each and every day. NYBC volunteers provide care, attention, and assistance to the many dedicated blood donors who roll up their sleeves to give life. Also, various volunteer opportunities exist to educate and encourage the public to donate at schools, businesses and community organizations….
You will learn how to conduct disaster relief fieldwork which includes providing assistance ranging from emergency food, clothing, shelter, and limited financial support. Duties include conducting damage assessment of affected dwellings to determine habitability and using established processes to accurately & confidentially collect client information.
Almost 250 volunteers are currently working in 32 Staten Island public elementary schools, where they tutor young children one-on-one at a location within the school building. Last year, the volunteers gave more than 17.000 hours teaching 500 children.
As the demand for meals continues to grow, so does our need for volunteer drivers. If you are available for approximately two hours, one day a week, please volunteer to deliver meals to elderly neighbors in your community or to work in our office.
Our work is made possible by thousands of volunteers. There are many ways to assist us in helping babies, moms and families close to home. You can take part in selling sponsorship opportunities, recruiting new volunteers, coordinating outreach to mission families and family teams, serving on our Advocacy and Government Affairs Committee, assisting with marketing…
As a Wishgranting Volunteer, you will experience the magic that occurs when a child is permitted to dream. Wishgranting Volunteers are paired up in teams of two to interview children to determine their heartfelt wish. You will assist in the granting of each wish with Make-A-Wish staff and your volunteer partner.
Volunteering opportunities range from helping at Decker Farm or in our historic town, assisting during events, supporting our staff on traditional and digital projects, sharing your musical talents if you play an instrument, and helping research history in our large archives.
The non-profit, non-partisan Global Medical Relief Fund “Federal Tax ID: 13-3987722″ aids children who are missing or have lost the use of limbs or eyes, or have been severely burned, or have been injured due to war, natural disaster or illness.
