Email #10: Clapton, a Castle & the Areenatoring (2/12/16)

Mentor.

Webster’s defines it as someone who teaches or gives advice to a less experienced and often younger person.

But it’s more than that.

Way more.

Mentoring means taking who you are – ALL your knowledge and ALL your experience – and sharing it with someone to make their life easier. It’s investing something that is so much more powerful than money.

Yourself.

Windsor Castle’s gardener was asked how the lawn always looked so spectacular. He said, matter of fact:

“You roll and roll the sod. Every day. For 300 years!”

The gardeners pass down the process. And each generation of gardener learns a bit more about the land. As Eric Clapton put it, “Plant your love and let it grow. Let it blossom, let it flow. In the sun, the rain, the snow.”

This is what Areena members do when we mentor. We share the details of our life’s experience with those about to walk along a similar path. We connect and empower generations.

Why?

Because we don’t get 300 years to learn on the job.
