A Work By American Poet Jim Moore

A few weeks back, I shared with you a poem by Rudyard Kipling and the response was terrific. This week I’m sharing with you another poem. It is by an American poet named Jim Moore and it was displayed for several years in the New York City subway system. With Memorial Day upon us, it just felt fitting.

I remember my mother toward the end,
folding the tablecloth after dinner
so carefully,
as if it were the flag
of a country that no longer existed,
but once had ruled the world.
The work is from Moore’s 2011 book of poetry, Invisible Strings. You can order the text by CLICKING HERE. I hope you all have a happy and safe Memorial Day weekend.
