Southern Alabama Regional Council on Aging is an Area Agency on Aging serving the seniors of Barbour, Coffee, Covington, Dale, Geneva, Henry and Houston counties of southeast Alabama. SARCOA is a vibrant and dynamic organization continually seeking ways to better serve the rapidly growing senior population through planning, coordinating and developing community levels of service. Volunteers are always needed to deliver hot lunchtime meals and a friendly visit to the homebound elderly. Others are needed in the Senior Centers to teach or lead classes in computers, exercise programs, sewing, recreation activities or other educational areas. Clerical volunteers are needed to assist with the SenioRx program. In December, volunteers make our Santa for Seniors project a success every year. Specially trained volunteers can assist seniors in the long-term care facilities through our Ombudsman program. Others may assist with health insurance information and questions, or by filing claims and appeals on behalf of Medicare/Medicaid beneficiaries.
SARCOA is the perfect volunteer opportunity for anyone with a passion for advocacy and helping seniors. Volunteers really do make a difference, so reach out and get involved!
