A city of compassion.
A like-minded people rallied behind a singular cause.
The more fortunate doing something for the less fortunate.
Books. 2,100 of ’em from bars, restaurants, ice cream parlors, cafes, coffee shops and everywhere else in between. All going to the kids at the Juvenile Temporary Detention Center. (If you haven’t seen the video from the event, you can do so by visiting our home page HERE.)
When we finally brought the books to the JTDC, the staff were overwhelmed. They thanked both myself and my brother endlessly as they filled five large laundry tubs. The following morning I received a note:
You can make an impact like this in your community right now. Every one of you, unfortunately, live near a neighborhood in need of support. There are kids who need educations, books, supplies…etc. And if you can’t find the right situation to help, Areena is making it easy for you by expanding our book drive efforts into cities across the country in the coming months.
