I hope you had a terrific summer, enjoying family and friends, doing things that excite and inspire you. We at Areena spent the summer preparing for our work this fall and throughout 2018.
Let me tell you about it.
First, we decided to rebrand ourselves into a company called AREENA.
Why “AREENA”? To paraphrase Teddy Roosevelt, we believe the credit belongs not to those on the sidelines of life, complaining about the world around them, but to those who are inside the arena, actively making that world a better place.
AREENA will provide the social platform, mechanism, initiative and inspiration for all people throughout the world – men, women, children, families – to individually and collectively use their skills, experience and expertise to improve the lives of the less fortunate. Our intent is massive social interaction, on every level, with every constituency.
People are obsessed with their mobile devices. They are constantly looking down. On the train, in the car, on the sidewalk. We want to use that obsession to get them to look up and see how they can positively impact the world. The iPhone as a tool for social good! Imagine that!
AoM’s mission will remain with AREENA. We love AoM and all that it – and you – accomplished. We are changing the name to be more inclusive. Every single person should know that we unquestionably want them to join in our efforts.
We will continue our work on major initiatives, focusing on issues of hunger, animal rights, mentoring and infrastructure. We remain committed to our partner organizations across the country.
In the fall we will launch our Ambassador Program, wherein locally-based “ambassadors” will coordinate efforts in each of the fifty states to attract membership, identify organizations with which to partner and increase our presence and impact.
Our college program will partner with colleges and universities, encouraging thousands of students to work in their communities. We’ll specifically engage sororities, fraternities and civic-minded organizations on campus.
We are incredibly excited about what our future holds We are inspired to be the organization and platform that ignites massive social action and change.
