Shenandoah Community Health Clinic

Shenandoah Community Health Clinic staff and volunteers provide compassionate, quality, and integrated health and human services to all of our patients. They provide medical, dental, and behavioral health services to Shenandoah County residents who are at or below 200% of the federal poverty level, are uninsured or underinsured, and who are committed to improving the quality of their lives. A few of their volunteer opportunities include:

  • Fundraising and Outreach: Staff booths and provide support at other fundraising events. Assist with mass mailings and other fundraising and outreach initiatives.
  • Intake Interviewers: Review patient income and residency documentation to assure they are within clinic guidelines. They also refer patients to other social or governmental assistance programs as needed. This job requires good communication skills, a compassionate demeanor, and the ability to turn people away if they do not qualify.
  • Indoor and Outdoor Maintenance Helpers: Handle occasional tasks such as hanging wall accessories, fixing minor building issues, gardening, and other yard work. Volunteers are also needed to assist in cleaning the kitchen, occasionally taking home dish towels and cloths for washing.
  • Medical and Dental Professionals: Doctors, dentists, nurses, and medical assistants are needed to see patients and provide clinic services.
  • Medication Assistance Clerks: Assist during clinics to ensure that patients are given the necessary information and that all forms are signed. They may also work during the day to follow up on required paperwork. Computer experience is helpful but not required.
  • Pharmacy Clerks: Assist in signing out medications to patients and explaining how the medications should be taken.
  • Receptionist and Clerical Assistants: Provide support in the front office area by answering phones, scheduling appointments, and completing other clerical tasks.
  • Staff Stuffers: Feed our hardworking volunteers and staff. Staff Stuffers can be individuals or groups who sign up to bring a meal on one or more Thursday evenings for the doctors, nurses, and others who come to volunteer straight from their jobs.
