Family Promise of Hunterdon County is the only homeless shelter for children and their families in Hunterdon County. They have lots of opportunities to volunteer to help prevent homelessness and lend a hand. The absolute number one need is to help fill volunteer shifts at the overnight host sites throughout the county. This is a wonderful opportunity to connect with the families and a great way for families in the community to give back together. As long as there is one volunteer who is over 21 years old on each shift, they welcome volunteers of all ages.
Here are a few other ways that you might be able to help with some less urgent needs:
- Manage a clothing donation program
- The Culinary Angels from Church of the Holy Spirit
- Help with furniture and home goods
- Host a pet for a family in the shelter program until they find permanent housing
